Our client is a major supplier to the Defence and Aerospace industries also with ties to the Public Sector possessing key accounts across Central and Local Government and civil security services. Their Management Consulting business delivers client side consulting, with a primary focus on programme and project delivery, technology enabled transformation, strategy development and business change management and implementation.
We were tasked to find a Managing Consultant with extensive systems engineering experience. This person would be involved with leading consulting, advisory and delivery assignments; taking responsibility for senior client relationships and for the development of the systems engineering capability within our clients Management Consultancy arm.
Because of the close working relationship we enjoy with this client, we knew that there would be a strong need for a well-connected candidate within the industry and extensive defence experience.
We created a targeted advertising campaign across LinkedIn and the major job boards careful to attract the right candidates. In addition we utilised our strong network of established connections for word of mouth referrals as we knew it was likely that candidates at this level wouldn’t be advertising their skill set.
Through years of successfully placing candidates in similar roles we were able to identify strong potential candidates with relative ease, the turnaround between requirement and interview being only a few short weeks.
We created a short list of three strong candidates who suited the role both professionally and personally. Because of the seniority of the placement we screened the candidates rigorously to ensure they met the requirements as precisely as possible.
Two of the three candidates were interviewed and one was placed however the second has since been offered another role within the organisation.
The more traditional ‘word of mouth’ approach proved to be the successful avenue for us on this occasion, relying on contacts both old and new to track down the right handful of people. We’re pleased to say this was down to the positive relationships we have cultivated with every candidate we work with.
We are now at interview stage with several other roles with this same client and look forward to a continued partnership in the future.
