Business Development Manager - ILS/IPS 
About the Company This company is a leading IPS software and services provider, operating in the defence, space, commercial aerospace, rail and shipping industries. With a truly global customer base, this company is an established supplier to the MoD (UK, Canada and Australia) and other major defence “Primes”. The Group operates worldwide, with offices in Europe, North America and Australasia.

About the Role The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end business winning activity to support the UK and European Integrated Product Support software and services offering. The nature of the role is proactive ‘hunting’ for business opportunities and then pursuing and closing them using solution selling and trusted partner techniques.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Manage regional customer accounts to include strategic partnerships, new opportunities, upgrades, maintenance, and support (i.e., major programmes, proposals, quotes, maintenance renewals, etc.)
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of UK and European markets and maintain close liaison with all sources of pertinent business knowledge.
  • Work with the marketing team to identify symposia and exhibitions to attend which will increase this company’s visibility in the marketplace and contribute to business growth.
  • Monitor tender opportunities and ensure that the Company is included on the lists of suppliers to receive invitations to tender.
  • Coordinate with Support teams on customer requests that require Sales input (i.e., contract renewals, requests for spares, ad-hoc tasking, etc.)
  • Population of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and sales pipeline tool
  • Working with the Head of IPS & Business Development to develop market growth strategies which will deliver the annual business growth targets.
  • Contribute to the establishment of a Global support engineering consultancy service.
  • Increase the profile of this company UK in the support engineering space through appropriate participation in Working Groups and industry bodies.
  • Support to the sales and marketing team as they develop the support engineering portfolio including advice and commercial support to business development and bids.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent suitable experience in a relevant field
  • Trained in the production of business winning proposals (Shipley or Miller Heiman)
  • Conversant with at least one of the leading CRM tools.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Experience in developing support engineering task and project solutions in collaboration with support engineering practitioners.
  • Understanding of support engineering requirements at all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer facing consultancy skills.
