Senior Explosives Safety Engineer This company is a specialist Safety and Environmental Consultancy that provides expert, value for money, and independent services to its clients with integrity, openness, and trust. They are looking for a Senior Explosives Safety Engineer to join their Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (WOME) team to meet a growing and diverse client portfolio. The ideal candidate should have several years' relevant experience providing technical support and engineering management in this specialist area.
Job Description The primary role of the successful candidate will be to assist with the development of explosives equipment and facility safety management programmes, core safety activities, and Safety Cases on behalf of MoD clients. Job Description The primary role of the successful candidate will be to assist with the development of explosives equipment and facility safety management programmes, core safety activities, and Safety Cases on behalf of MoD clients. The Senior Explosives Safety Engineer will be involved in the following tasks:
- The development and production of Safety Cases;
- Hazard Identification;
- Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and Structured What If Technique (SWIFT) analysis;
- Risk Assessment and Hazard Sentencing;
- The development and implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Safety Management Plans (SMP);
- Business development and Client liaison activities;
- Organisation, preparation, and attendance at client meetings;
- The drafting of technical reports;
- Data input into customers software systems;
- Compliance and implementation of work in accordance with the Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001).
Requirements
- A military, defence, and/or consultancy background;
- Good understanding of safety management within technical areas;
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards including DSA03-OME and Def-Stan 00-56;
- Suitable professional qualifications and ideally a member of an appropriate professional institution;
- Proven track record in supporting business development activities would be desirable but not essential;
- Excellent communication skills and a high standard of English and grammar supported with a sound technical engineering background;
- Highly effective in organising own time and workload, especially when working from home.
- A basic salary in the range of £45,000 to £55,000 gross per annum;
