Our Client is a leading Science and Technology company working on the behalf of the MOD and industry on a diverse range of cutting edge projects.

As an Electrical & EMC trials officer you will be involved with aircraft electrical and armament electrical system assessment and analysis, as well as whole aircraft system EMC testing.

Following suitable training (where necessary) you will plan, lead and conduct ground trials within a range of fixed and rotary wing aircraft from an Electrical or Electromagnetic Compatibility perspective, as well as analysing trials evidence in order to provide flight clearance airworthiness recommendations.

An Armed Forces, MOD or defence industry background would be advantageous, ideally supported by a degree-level education and accreditation with a professional engineering body.

For the EMC trials role, experience of Aircraft Avionics Systems and / or Armament systems, will need to be balanced by a familiarity with whole system EMC testing techniques, methodologies, practices and procedures.

You will be required to conduct ground trials as well as carry out the interpretation and analysis of trials evidence in order to provide flight clearance, airworthiness and safety of flight advice to the MOD for its fleet of aircraft and airborne equipment.

Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of aircraft electrical systems and familiarity with whole system EMC test methodology and procedures (not limited to qualification testing), preferably obtained within the armed services, MOD civil service or the UK defence industry.

Familiarity with EMC testing techniques, methodologies, practices and procedures including: BCI, LLS, BCM, HME/TME HIRF and HIRTA, plus knowledge of defence and military standards such as Def Stan 00-970, 59-41and Mil Stan 461 are highly desirable.
