Job Description

Our client is an expert in the defence, aerospace and security sectors, solving some of the world's most important problems, offering high-end technical knowledge, research and innovation support to their clients.

They are currently seeking an Armourer to join their team in the South East of England to work on the maintenance of large calibre weapons, testing equipment and ancillary equipment, ensuring that weaponry and equipment are in a serviceable condition.

Armourer (Large Calibre Weapons)

Key accountabilities include:

*Prepare and inspect ordnance/weapons and ancillaries prior to issue to meet the range programme.
*Carry out six monthly and annual weapon and mounting inspection and examinations
*Maintain and repair all ordnance/weapons (e.g. barrel changes), test equipment, mountings and ancillaries.
*Investigate and report weapon and mounting defects and ensure that the Ordnance Supervisor is informed.
*Ensure that all weapon history books and computer records are kept up-to-date.
*Ensure that the security of weapons and the armoury is maintained at all times.
*Preparation and maintenance of various static rocket rigs.
*To assist on the range, e.g. firing and loading of weapons, when required by Trial Officers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small workshop team working on defence weapons systems, with the potential for future career progression to supervisor/line manager level.

To be considered for this role, you are likely to be ex-Forces (possibly REME), an Artificer or Armourer having served a recognised military large calibre armament apprenticeship with experience in the maintenance of large calibre weapons, such as 105mm, 120mm and 155mm barrels or 4.5" naval weaponry.

You will have experience of working with large calibre ordnance and their recoil systems and ancillaries, including carrying out inspections and examinations and will have knowledge of the H&S regulations relating to weapon and engineering practices.

A full UK driving licence is required.
