My client is looking for an experience Assembly & Calibration Engineer to join the team based in Dorset. They are the longest running mechanical Winding Temperature Indicator supplier in Great Britain. They pride themselves in being the mechanical instrument supplier of choice to Brush Generators, Winder Power, Transformers and Rectifyers and so on.
-Small discrete components and a very high attention to detail are the main challenges with this job, we use some very small delicate parts to make up what is effectively a clockwork style mechanism which measures temperature.
-You will need to be to work well with your fingers and fine tools.
-You will need to be able to understand basic imperial and metric drawings.
-If you can solder wires etc that would be useful as part of the job does involve basic soldering and the odd repair.
-Use of power tools, pedestal drills, band saws and hand tools are part of the job.
-There is an element of site work and this can involve working away for several days at a time, pretty much anywhere in the country. To do this you will have to be able to pass a qualification called National Grid Person - we do provide all the training materials for this and cover all the costs associated with it, but your continued employment will be conditional on taking and passing this course.
-Your employment would be based on a 4 day week (Mon-Thurs), with a start time of 0715 until 4pm. This gives a 33 hour week. We have a Christmas shutdown between Christmas and New Year which will form part of your holiday entitlement and is compulsory.
-There will also be an element of National Security Vetting required by our customers, you will need to be able to pass this as well.
