They are looking for an Associate General Counsel to join their team in South Wales to cover maternity leave.
Associate General Counsel
The Associate General Counsel will head the legal team, ensuring that the company operates within the law at all times, offering counsel on legal issues, creating an effective guardian of the organisation and facilitating business strategies development, ensuring legal compliance and limit risk exposure.
You will oversee and identify legal issues in all departments of the UK business and their interrelation including engineering, commercial, finance, new business, human resources, production, as well as corporate governance and business policy.
*Providing robust and reliable strategic legal advice to senior leadership
*Evaluating multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action made by the business
*Anticipating issues and estimating risks strategically
*Setting internal governance policies and managing the impact of external legal factors
*Identifying proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks
*Decision-making based on ethics and integrity
*Leading a legal function and managing people and processes.
*Understanding of how businesses operate and using your ability to cooperate with different personalities, using your sound judgement and life experiences to instil confidence in the advice and counsel you provide.
*Dealing with external parties (regulators, external counsel, politicians, clients)
*Attracting, developing, directing, motivating and driving team performance
*Drafting agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights
*Meeting legal objectives
*Managing legal budget
*Dealing with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas
*Keeping abreast of legislative changes and informing the board of directors
To be considered for this role, applicants will need to have the following experience:
*Proven general legal knowledge within either an in-house or private practice environment
*Legal knowledge on broad legal areas such as Corporate, Employment, Commercial and Regulatory Law
*An In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organisations and the ability to develop legal strategy to mitigate legal risk
The ability to sufficiently manage a legal team and set team and individual objectives:
*High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas
*Excellent judgement and analytical skills
*First class interpersonal and communication skills
*Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to 'see around the corner'
*Associate General Counsel
*Up to circa £650 per day
