Job Description

With a proven business development and client management background, your background and expertise within mechanical engineering will enable the client's consultancy business to add a more comprehensive offering to their established and new client base.

Operating a full consultancy model from scoping work through to installation, the client takes responsibility for the full project lifecycle. Primarily operating as a Fire Consulting business, following substantial and continuing success, the client is looking to double the size of the business over the next 3 years. Currently the primary business is focused on the residential market, but this role is to further develop within the commercial sector.

The Business Development Director - Mechanical is required to add technical expertise in the area and take the lead in business growth. To compliment the in-place expertise of fire safety requirements and consultancy, this appointment will enable a wider breadth of services to be offered. As such expertise in areas such as cooling systems, air exhaust systems and HVAC are required. There is the opportunity here to take this business area in the postholders chosen direction with the support of the current leadership team. This will include responsibility for the development of the team and subsequently the mechanical engineering expertise that can be offered.

To be suitable for the role, candidates will be used to working in a consultancy environment and have a commercial focus. You will have proven business development experience with a range of UK commercial clients. Although not hands-on, you will need to bring a level of technical expertise to work with the customers to specify and scope requirements. It would be expected that the candidate holds a chartership and has extensive experience within a consultancy environment where responsibilities include winning business and developing client relationships.
