The Capability Management department is predominantly a customer facing technical department supporting the winning and delivery of business and supporting the development of the capability required to do so.
You will be at the leading edge of technological innovation, responsible for the efficient manufacture of the next generation of high integrity electronic systems for the defence and maritime industries.
About the Role:
Writing technical content of bids and proposals (B&P)
*Determining resource requirements for PV and bids and proposals / future orders and feeding these into the forward load;
*Building and leading the cross-functional technical teams in support of PV and BNP
*Raising the PV forms to get internal funding agreed
*Identifying opportunities for, and securing external R&D funding to develop the Capability Area's product portfolio and ensure that business objectives are satisfied;
*strategy and mitigate these where possible within the Capability Area;
*Supporting the sales and marketing team in the identifying and development of new opportunities within the Capability Area;
*Keeping appraised of technical developments and future technology within the business stream to ensure that the within the Capability Area's product portfolio evolves through progressive and disruptive innovation.
*Performing a System Design Authority role on nominated projects;
*Identifying, developing and implementing new or appropriate process and procedure improvements, to meet current and emergent engineering requirements in line with the business strategic vision and engineering best practice.
*Degree in a relevant subject (Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent qualification / experience.
*Knowledge of Maritime Integration domain
*Knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices and common pitfalls.
*Broad knowledge of Systems Engineering methodologies, processes and tools
*Working knowledge / appreciation of software electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering.
*Knowledge of fundamental commercial and financial issues.
*Strong bid & proposal knowledge
*Experience of leading naval platform upgrades
*Experience of planning and conducting all levels of integration and unit testing
*Technical experience of conducting pragmatic system commissioning, integration and acceptance tests
*Demonstrable experience of electronic system design/ support design certification/ system of system integration preferably in the Defence Naval/Marine Domain.
*Familiarity with the whole system/product lifecycle.
*System Design Authority experience
*Experienced in writing and managing requirements and their acceptance
*Experience of system design development
*Experience of leading design reviews
