My client is looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join the team. They are a global leaders in metal recycling with a heritage dating back to the 1940s and employ around 4000 people operating at 150 locations around the world.
The Controls Systems Engineer (CSE) reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the development and support of plant automation control systems and SCADA systems at each of the company's main facilities. The CSE must be able to develop requirements, design, implement and support these systems. This role is UK based, and principally to support their operations across the UK, but there will be involvement with colleagues in their USA and mainland Europe operations, and this role will take the lead in setting control system standardisation across all geographies.
-Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or relevant experience
-5 years or more experience in automated controls systems
-Experience with Allen Bradley PLC's
-Expert knowledge of Control Logix 5000, SLC 500 PLC programming as well as FactoryTalk View Studio (SE and ME versions).
-Ability to develop code using Sequential Function Blocks, structured text and Phase Manager modules.
-Strong development skills with high level programming languages such as VB.Net, C#, Java etc
-Ability to develop and incorporate ActiveX controls in the framework design
-Experience using source code versioning control systems
-Experience with scripting languages such as Python
-Development of HMI's and MES system using Inductive Automation's Ignition application would be beneficial
-Proficient in database design and administration, stored procedures, SQL queries
-Experience with Crystal reports, XSL, XML, OPC, VBA a plus
-Familiar with use of UML, requirements management and design patterns.
-Able to design and code finite state machines in PLC's and OOP
-Good understanding of network topology and can develop interfaces through OPC, RS-232, RS-485, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet IP
-Experience with VFD's, motor starters, E3 Relays. Strong electrical background a plus
-Experience in Distributed Control System, Emergency Shutdown systems, Compressor Control systems and dust control systems
