Looking for an opportunity to work across different technology domains such as RF, EO, latest high performance digital electronic devices, real-time software, and associated development tools and develop an understanding of HWIL techniques as applied to missile development as well as grow your understanding of how advanced missile seekers operate and process target information in clear and contested environments

There is a vacancy for an experienced engineer in digital electronics and digital signal processing for application to real-time, dynamic target simulator development and synthetic imagery generation.
specialising in the development of real-time, target simulator systems for the real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing of advanced RF system sensors (e.g. Radar). Operating as the system and equipment 'design authority' for these simulators as well as the 'intelligent customer' for related sub-systems and sub-system technology. supporting several major projects and technology demonstrator programmes through the provision of target simulator solutions, as well as providing detailed models of the sensor with associated synthetic target scene data for closed-loop testing of the weapon system software.

This position will involve internally and externally funded research and technology studies, providing specialist resources on real-time system processing along with firmware and software developers.
As part of your role you will be responsible for:

Undertake design studies into real-time target simulators for the testing of RF and EO sensors.
Develop the system, hardware, firmware, and software specifications for real-time target simulators.
Design the digital processing architecture, including the development and testing of associated firmware and software.
Assist in the design, build, and test of the target simulator equipment.
Assist in the integration and calibration of the target simulator within the customer's test facility along with 'in service' support of the simulator equipment.
Generate, verify, and validate synthetic imagery (for either RF or EO) to support system studies.
Undertake funded research into simulator technology, techniques, and tools.
Assist in the development of 'technology roadmaps' for future target simulation systems, related technologies, and tools.
Help monitor supplier technology roadmaps (e.g. FPGA product roadmaps) and identify future technologies for investment.
To be the point of contact within the group, and the wider department, on the latest developments in FPGA and GPU technologies and the associated benefits to electronic system performance.
Provide technical expertise in design reviews and other forums as appropriate
You will have the following experience:

Essential
Have experience with good engineering practices, such as requirements definition, design validation and certification, and configuration control of the design. Experience in DSP (Digital Signal Processing) development and implementation.
Experience in VHDL, Xilinx Vivado/ Xilinx ISE, Modelsim, Simulink HSL Coder/ Xilinx HLS.
Experience in C/ C++.
Familiarity with RTC (Rational Team Concert) and SubVersions software configuration management tools.
Familiarity with DOORS (Dynamic Object Orientated Requirements System) requirements management tool.
Desirable
Basic understanding of RF and EO theory
Appreciation of system design & integration challenges and dependencies
Mathematical modeling skills including proficiency with tools such as MATLAB and/or Simulink
Knowledge of CAMEOSIM, RADTHERM and OKTAL simulation tools
