They are currently seeking a Director of Production Services to work within group IT. This role can be UK based in London or overseas in their office in Canada.
This is a critical appointment and will involve building teams and ensuring the smooth transition to cloud and DevOps. The role will be largely strategic in nature.

Our client is an industry leader in the mobile satellite communications market, offering an extensive range of global satcom solutions and services to keep people connected at all times, even when travelling by land, sea or air.
Responsibility of a global production services team incorporating the IT Infrastructure, IT Operations, Telecoms, DBA's, Business Applications Support and testing teams
Accountable for the success of building and maintaining a world-class production services team, with key objectives in the areas DeVops, cloud services (Datacentre as a Service, Unified Communications as service programs in flight)
Manage a 75+ person global team (4 direct reports) primarily based in London, St Johns Canada and Batam, Indonesia
Responsible for IT Managers and other professionals to deliver to the high expectations
Manage IT staff, with responsibility for hiring, coaching, evaluation, training, guidance, mentoring and disciplinary procedures.
Drive forward the transformational changes to establish the new working model and then oversee the production services group in terms of ensuring the business goals are being met.
Take a proactive strategic review of the current and evolving IT estate suggesting recommendations for improvement bearing in mind the move to cloud based and Co-Lo model.
Ensure DevOps is fully supported to facilitate an effective and efficient business application delivery and support capability
Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of the set strategies
Deliver key KPI reporting
Work closely with the Change & Release Manager ensuring quality delivery.
Work closely with Network, Security, Architecture and end user engagement teams on future strategies, direction and technologies
Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts working closely with the Operational Services Manager
Creating and executing roadmaps that direct the movement between current and future states (services, technologies, sourcing, etc.)
Ensure all business unit and support teams are making the right technical choices for the business needs.
Coordinate and implement security strategies developed by the business Security team
Ensure group adherence to and help mature operational processes (ITIL) and compliance controls.
Control budget (Multi $M) and report on expenditure
Knowledge and Skills Required
10+ years IT Management covering Infrastructure, IT Operations, Telecommunications , Business applications and testing teams
5+ years cloud environment experience
3+ years working in a DevOps environment
Excellent technical understanding and can challenge technical opinions bearing the bigger picture in mind.
Experience with best practices such as ITIL V3
Experience with Security Frameworks (NIST, SSAE16 / SOC 1 Type II and ISO 27001)
Lead a team through change, i.e. from an IT on premise environment to the cloud working closely with a Systems Integrator.
Good experience working with managed services providers.
Familiarity with IaaS/ PaaS/SaaS/xaaS and Co-Lo Cloud business models, user experience, and multi-tenancy architecture a plus
