Our client is a global consultancy and engineering organisation, supporting customers across a range of industry sector, including nuclear, conventional and renewable energy, defence and aerospace.

Emergency Preparedness Lead (part-time)

They are currently looking for an Emergency Preparedness Lead to join their London-based Nuclear Environmental team and take responsibility for developing the Emergency Preparedness Arrangements for Sizewell C nuclear power station.

The Emergency Preparedness Lead will define policy and standards and develop the management arrangements required during operation, as well as ensuring that the Sizewell C design takes these requirements into account.

You will interface with a significant number of stakeholders to ensure understanding across the project of the specific requirements within the UK context for emergency planning, whilst also providing an innovative approach to improving on current best practise and confirming the emergency arrangements are fit for purpose. Working closely with the wider Sizewell C Safety Directorate and your Hinkley Point C counterpart, you will look at opportunities to utilise the existing arrangements in place, capturing any related project risks or areas for improvements and ensuring these are adequately mitigated or closed.

Principal Accountabilities will include:
*Producing the Sizewell C Emergency Preparedness Strategy and Design Philosophy providing the foundation to develop a holistic set of emergency arrangements.
*Developing the emergency arrangements for the operational site, including the development of arrangements for COMAH, ensuring close linkage with the developing Sizewell C Safety Case, reference emergency scenarios and inclusion of best practise from the national and international nuclear industries.
*Providing the expert advice, support and guidance on operational emergency preparedness topics that ensures compliance with the UK context (including UK Best Practices & Legislation).

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a science, radiation protection, engineering or a related discipline, with experience of emergency planning within the Nuclear Industry, including experience of the application of REPPIR. You will have a strong relationship building, influencing and collaborative style of working, developed through experience gained working in complex and team-focused environments.

You will need:
*Knowledge of Emergency Planning and Health and Safety Legislation including COMAH, Civils Contingency Act, REPPIR, CDM and Nuclear Site License Requirements.
*Strong Problem Solving and Organisational Skills.
*The ability to work independently and demonstrate excellent communication/interpersonal and influencing skills.

In addition, the following would be desirable:
*Experience of working with UK regulators.
*Experience of working with the preparation, review and delivery of contractual documentation or in technical support for contracts.
*Chartered status (or working towards Chartership of a related professional body e.g. the Society for Radiological Protection
*Experience of supporting the design process of new or existing plant.
