Job Description

Our client is a Systems and Engineering Technology consultancy, operating from offices around the UK, helping and advising clients with their technical knowledge to develop, enhance and protect their critical assets, systems and processes.

Fluid Process Engineer (Low Carbon Systems)

They are currently seeking a Fluid Process Engineer to join their team in Bristol or Dorking, working on solutions for the low carbon energy industry.

The Fluid Process Engineer (Low Carbon Systems) will be responsible for:

Technical work:
*Delivering high quality technical analysis of flow and process systems' concepts and designs.
*Analysing and understanding challenges with existing plant and defining roadmaps for corrective actions.
*Appraising and quantifying the hazards and risks associated with gas leaks/dispersion, blast or fire.

Project leadership:
*Managing projects in accordance with ISO-9001 accredited processes and acting as technical lead.
*Working with colleagues within and outside your disciplines to deliver multidisciplinary projects.
*Authoring and verifying technical deliverables.

*Helping shape service development plans and strategies to develop, tailor and align skills and experience to the market and maximise the value offer to customers.
*Developing new business by identifying and engaging with prospective clients and representing the business at conferences and seminars.
*Responding to leads and enquiries and writing bids.

Projects are very diverse and can last from a few weeks to many years of sustained support. You will typically be involved with multiple projects at any one time, meeting and communicating with customers to understand their requirements and managing your projects to deliver the desired outcomes and insights.

To be considered for this role, applicants will:
*have proficient knowledge and experience of working in the low carbon energy industry.
*be able to use solid understanding of practical thermo-fluid mechanics, gained from a Master's Degree in Engineering, a PhD, or a similar level of training, to perform fluids and thermal hand calculations, system level flow assurance assessments and detailed fluids and thermal analysis.
*have experience of using your skills and experience to address technical challenges in fluid flow and heat transfer and developing proportionate, appropriate, and credible solutions.
*be able to use your communication skills to engage effectively with project stakeholders internally and externally, both verbally and through crisp and focused writing.
*be flexible enough to work across industries but have experience in delivering solutions in low carbon energy, for example in the hydrogen or nuclear industries.

In addition, the following would be ideal:
*Experience of using detailed modelling approaches such as computational fluid dynamics to understand complex flow fields and heat transfer.
*Experience in delivering consequence analysis to support qualitative risk assessment processes, using proportionate analysis work to justify the safety of plant, and recommend design solutions.
*Experience of supporting fluid process system design processes, including supporting activities such as developing requirements and design substantiation that feed into the overall safety justification of plant.
*Achieved, or close to achieving chartered engineer status, and/or professional process safety engineer status.
