Job Description

Hardware Engineer (Electronics)
My client is looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer (Electronics) to join the team. They provide a variety of electronics products for the military, naval, sonar, combat market. You will be working in the functional electronics team working on a wide variety of designs from high speed digital electronic platforms to wired cabinets.
Responsibilities
A Hardware Engineer will be responsible for:
-Resolving technical problems associated with assigned products.
-Providing design solutions for electrical/electronic equipment, taking into account EMC and environmental constraints.
-PCB design using CAD tools (including schematic and layout).
-Selection of component parts and obsolescence management.
-Production of design documentation (include technical and design proving reports/CE compliance and Product Test Specifications).
-Identifying and helping manage technical risk in their area within projects and developments.
-Providing adequate constructive challenge in design reviews to identify and mitigate any key issues.
Qualification & Experience
-Good electronics engineering or physics degree or equivalent
-Analogue/Power/High speed digital design including specification, schematic capture, PCB layout and prototype debugging.
-Knowledge of electronic engineering best practices and common pitfalls.
-Broad knowledge of electronic engineering methodologies, processes and tools.
-Design for EMC compliance and Knowledge of EMC and safety standards such as BS EN 60950 and 62368.
-Knowledge and understanding of design for manufacture (DFM/DFA).
-Demonstrable experience of electronics design in the defence industry or other relevant environment
-Experience in design for EMC & signal integrity including schematic design and PCB layout
-Experience in the definition, design prototyping and commissioning of electrical subsystems including PCBs, Electronics racks / cabinets, cables and other electronic assemblies.
-Schematic capture and PCB layout of complex designs.
