My client is looking for an experienced Hardware Technician to join their team. My client is one of a network of elite technology and innovation centres set up by Innovate UK. My client will create a critical mass for business and research innovation, focusing on electricity, heat and combustible gases. This centre will be an important part of the UK's innovation system, making a major long-term contribution to UK economic growth.
-The ability to interpret and correct errors in the MS excel based home survey forms that are used as the basis for the platform HW configuration.
-Monitoring and correcting a defined software (SW) procedure to convert the excel forms into the files required for integration of the home instance into the Cloud platform.
-Monitor and assist the defined procedure to prepare the equipment to a state ready for deployment into the home. This includes asset management and "pairing" of the z-wave based sensors and actuators that form the heating and water management platform.
-Provide the overall technical support needed by the home installation team(s) using the proprietary software support tools.
-Using the diagnostic tools provided, ensure the home management systems are operating as expected, and provide the leading role in ensuring technical issues are resolved in a timely manner.
-Team Leadership qualities, able to resolve complex issues in a timely manner, able to work well with multidisciplinary teams.
-An engineering degree in Electronics, Automation, Instrumentation or another related discipline is desirable but not essential. We will also consider candidates with substantial experience in hardware electronics.
-Experience working in an electronic laboratory or electrical instrumentation facility.
-Methodical and comfortable leading contractors (technicians, boiler professionals, surveyors, suppliers).
-Demonstrable ability to understand technical specifications and can translate complex information into simple communications.
-Hands-on approach: needs to be able to perform delicate assembly of a small number of off-the-shelf items.
-Good IT skills, able to work well with SW engineers.
-Knowledge and a demonstrable enthusiasm for energy sustainability & the energy sector.
-Good team-working attributes.
-Willingness to travel within the UK (role base is Birmingham or Newcastle)
