Job Description

Our client is looking for a Head of PMO to join them for a 6 month contract. This will be a remote based role. The suitable candidate must have strong experience working to GDS (Government Digital Standards).

The Head of PMO is responsible for leading the PMO team, which is made up of blend of permanent, seconded and contractor resources. A key factor of the role will be to help determine the appropriate skills, capabilities and blend of resources to effectively support and deliver their high-profile portfolio of complex programmes and projects.

Key Responsibilities
*Leading the business' Corporate PMO
*Playing a key role in developing the Portfolio Management Framework to support effective governance and management of programmes and projects
*Leading and facilitating the ongoing development and implementation of the company's Change Delivery Framework
*Managing the corporate project pipeline ensuing business cases for change are well defined and managed centrally, including as acting as chair for the Change Review Group
*Maintaining overall integrity and coherence of the portfolio plan ensuring all dependencies, risks and issues are understood and managed accordingly

Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be an experienced PMO professional with at least 5 years hands-on and management experience, and be able to demonstrate:
*Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build, maintain and motivate high-performing teams that deliver at pace
*Experience of developing and managing the delivery of programmes and projects, balancing pace with tight resource constraints, and often conflicting priorities
*Ability to embed a collaborative working culture across diverse multi-disciplinary teams (within and beyond line management)
*Ability to lead from the front and forward plan within a changing organisation
*Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas via strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation
*Ability to work under pressure, whilst maintaining a sense of perspective of the business needs
*Outstanding problem-solving skills, the ability to work with focus and pace, adapt to ever-changing environments and react quickly to emerging challenges
*High levels of motivation, commitment and passion

Desirable Skills and Experience
*Experience of matrix management of teams and individuals across multi-project, complex environments
*Experience in successfully delivering projects and programmes that comply with Government Digital Standards
*Managing Successful Programmes (practitioner)
