They integrate technical disciplines within all legacy, modern and new build communication infrastructures - they do this on both small and very large-scale projects across a broad spectrum of industry, commerce and public access networks.
They are currently recruiting for an experienced and accredited Health & Safety Field Works Assessor - HSFWA to join the team at Snitterfield, Warwickshire.
To work as part of Cable and Splicing Services (CASS) Health & Safety team. The role will hold a clear focus on field-based works working on a mobile basis 5 days a week observing and reporting on works in the field by active CASS gangs.
This role carries a range of duties to provide a H&S presence across all CASS work streams in the UK by conducting daily active site visits at CASS work sites. The HSFWA shall attend site and record certain information which will be taken from an APP based site capture recorder to show all positive and negative aspects about the gang at work at a specific site.
Reporting back to HSEQ Manager at CASS HQ the HSFWA shall work as a key part of the key CASS H&S team and will best suit a practical and well organised telecom/utilities experienced individual who holds over 10 years operational telecom/utilities sector works experience.
The ideal candidate shall have key knowledge and all practical telecom/utilities/civils aspects of UK Fixed Network Telecom Operators' practices and standards.
To succeed in the position, the HSFWA shall understand the full Safe Working standards for all Streetworks and tasking engaged by CASS telecom/utility/civils gangs.
A clear understanding of pre-planning key stages ahead of deploying civils gangs with full regard to Noticing/HSG47/Line search/Safe digs.
Equally key is that the HSFWA is well practised in how a telecom/utility/civils job is reinstated and site cleared to satisfactory standards of practice.
The role should be considered a mobile role with extensive travel daily to multiple CASS work sites across England.
In your role you will be responsible for:
*Observing and reporting on CASS field gangs Health & Safety and safe working practices.
*Attending multiple sites daily.
*Liaising with CASS depots to determine location and whereabouts of works in progress.
*Liaise with Noticing and Planning team for notice/permits advice.
*Build strong relationships with local HA's.
*Plan weekly self-tasking for all forecast work sites in weekly plan.
*Reporting on all work sites attended using APP supported by notes/commentary and photos at site(s).
*Plant (Civils) - to assess and record status of all on site plant trailers/machines seen at site.
*SLG - assessing traffic management measures at site and reports on all aspects observed.
*Intercepting and halting all site works where situation is considered violating H&S.
You will have the following qualifications and be able to prove experience and competence.
*Must hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on your licence
*Basic NRSWA 1-9
*CSCS card held
*10 years exp in field NRSWA supported works
*Prior training with an engineering focus on utilities/telecom/civils
*Strong awareness of HSE and safe working practices in a Streetworks environment
*Must be good learner and have excellent organisation and communication skills
*Prior experience working as a field engineer gang supervisor at street level
*Strong awareness on street work facing H&S.
*Strong report writing skills.
*Excellent person to person communication skills.
*Able to work with minimal supervision.
*Able to use MS Outlook (Email and Excel).
*Strong communication / interpersonal skills at all levels.
*Effective diary management.
*Effective planning and organisational skills.
*Accurate eye for quality and detail.
*Safety conscious and compliant
*Excellent communication skills
*Risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on Health and Safety practices
