The Interconnects Design Technical Lead will manage work packages as a Technical Lead. You will work on the creation of bespoke cable designs for power, signal & data transmission, interpreting Sub-System requirements and generating electrical schematics and cable design definitions on CAD. You will investigate cable problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team. As the Technical Lead you will be responsible for workload planning, budgets and design reviews/documentation. You will also support and liaise with manufacturing teams to resolve manufacturing problems and defects, as well as supporting functional and environmental trials.
To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be suitably qualified, ideally to degree level on a relevant Electrical/Electronic Engineering subject or similar with experience in a similar interconnects or cable/harness design role with significant experience in managing work packages.
You will be able to demonstrate several of the following attributes:
*Sound experience in Cable/Harness design.
*Experience on HarnWare or similar CAD package advantageous.
*Experience in managing work packages.
*Product life cycle awareness.
*An understanding of Military Defence Standards and cable harness Manufacture (IPC-WHMA-A-620C).
*D38999 connector understanding.
*Understanding of flexible circuits.
*Ability to define cable construction based upon electrical constraints (Current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC and environmental requirements).
*The ability to provide advice and support across projects and to other functions as appropriate.
*Experience of working effectively in collaboration with mechanical, electronic designers and relevant project managers.
*An appreciation of Interconnect production/process engineering.
*Experience of working to required timescales, identifying and addressing critical aspects as a priority.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*A pro-active approach, motivated to deliver quality products on time and to cost whilst ensuring Design for Manufacture and Design for Test.
