Job Description

Our client in the Gloucestershire area is looking for an IT Applications Operations Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.

The successful candidate will be a critical part of the team that supports the engineering team design applications portfolio and related services. This position will be responsible for working closely with applications users, IT solutions architects and functional teams to provide software, hardware and infrastructure support that meets the needs of the business.

Key Activities
*Work directly with users on reported issues driving them to resolution through analysis, troubleshooting and escalation of complex problems to the appropriate support specialists.
*Coordinate with various source system support teams and system architects to reproduce and resolve user issues with necessary root cause analysis and fixes.
*Engage with various stakeholders at different levels supporting business digital transformation.
*Ensure that all solutions are efficient and scalable.
*Write technical articles along with tutorials for the user community to keep them up to date with the relevant practices of the business.

Skills and Experience
*IT specialist with a technical background. You will have the ability to prioritise a heavy work load in a fast paced environment.
*Strong problem solving and analytical skills, demonstrated ability to assimilate new information and understand complex topics.
*Proactively engage with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and design solutions.

*B.S in a technical field, such as Computer Science or Information Systems, IT or Engineering with relevant IT experience
*Minimum of 3 years professional experience
*A working understanding of network architectures and applicable theory
*Basic working knowledge of engineering applications portfolio (i.e ProE, Creo, Catia, Ansys, Matlab
*An engineering/design background would be highly advantageous but is not essential
*It is highly desirable that the successful candidate has experience in supporting users in a high performance technical computing (HPTC) environment including the management of remote cluster machine.
