Job Description

Are you an experienced Technical Author with Defence or Aerospace experience? Our client is a leading provider of technical and documentation services to blue chip clients throughout the UK and Europe.

They have a strong track record in producing technical documentation for the MOD and currently have several major projects on the go. They are currently looking to recruit a Technical Publications Team Leader to join their growing Documentation department.
This position would suit an ambitious and experienced Technical Author who wants to take the next step in their career.

As a Lead Technical Author you will be involved in all aspects of the running of our clients Technical Publications department, in support of the Department Manager.
Responsibilities will include:
*Interrogating project databases, registers and repositories for source data in order to assess the impact to technical publications
*Manage workloads effectively and efficiently to meet the demands of the programme utilising available resource as necessary e.g. amendments and production of new technical publications including but not limited to Data Modules, OEM manuals, illustrations and schematics
*Deliver draft technical publications for engineering governance, within agreed timescales and to agreed company and customer acceptable quality standards, to support the resolution of any tasking requirements
*Provide helpdesk support for technical queries regarding technical publications
*Provide regular updates on the progress of all technical publication tasks as required

Essential requirements:
*Proven experience as a Technical Author within Defence or Aerospace sectors
*The ability to produce concise and accurate manuals from a variety of source information, predominantly engineering drawings, CAD data and system specifications
*Experience of producing publications to JSP (D) 543, AESP 0100 and ASD S1000D
*Common Source Data Base (CSDB) knowledge

Home working would be an option but there would be Travel required to the Bristol/Gloucester area
