Job Description

My client, a world leader in the defence sector, requires a Mechanical Architect to join their Weapons System Equipment team and become involved in all aspects of Weapon System and Sub-system development.

Mechanical Architect (Launcher Systems)

The Mechanical Architect will be responsible for the technical management of launcher mechanical requirements, design proving and requirement/environmental verification and validation, as well as managing areas such as thermal interfaces, physical interfaces and the generation/use of performance models.

Responsibilities will include:

*Generation of launcher and equipment Design Verification Plans from supplier documentation.
*Generation of structure and pneumatics requirement sets.
*Generation of design assessment and compliance matrix for Launcher mechanical requirements.
*Maturation of Pneumatic performance model and support dynamic release model development.
*Conducting Mechanical and System DFMEA for launcher development.
*Supporting EMC verification and validation, aircraft integration and integration data pack generation.
*Supporting manufacture process and issue resolution, and design reviews.

Our client's Weapon System Equipment Department is core to the delivery of modern defence capabilities, so this is an opportunity to work as part of an integrated project team on a flagship programme delivering new capabilities. The role could be a stepping-stone to more senior technical leadership roles within the company, as it offers the opportunity to experience a broad view of the development process through interaction and influence of Systems Designers, Chief Engineers and Suppliers.

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as Mechanical Engineering or similar, with extensive experience in a similar Mechanical Architecture or Mechanical Design/Analysis role, working on highly technical, high integrity products, ideally within the defence sector.

You will have experience working at all stages of the product design and development lifecycle, with experience in areas such as thermal interfaces, physical interfaces and the generation/use of performance models. You will also need good verbal and written communication abilities and proven planning and leadership skills (interpersonal and influencing).
