Job Description

A vacancy has arisen in the R&D department for a Mechanical Development Engineer
Based in the East Midlands, we develop and manufacture in various sectors internationally. We already have a number of patents and world firsts and are committed to continuous product development on a concurrent engineering basis.

Design and development of Process Instrumentation
Preparation of 3D models and drawings using Solidworks software.
Implementing new designs into production and the project management thereof.
Support to production, production engineering, purchasing and quality personnel.
Testing of Process Instrumentation
Wide-ranging support to the R&D department in the research, testing and development of flow instrumentation.
Performance of other tasks as detailed by the Development Manager - Mechanical and/or the Technical Director.

Mechanical Development Design Engineer
East Midlands (Commutable from Northampton, Kettering Wellingborough, Bedfordshire, Rushden)
Salary depending on experience


Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject from an accredited University or substantial experience in lieu.
Practical experience in 3D CAD is essential, preferably using SolidWorks.
Familiarity with other design and simulation software such as AutoCAD and ANSYS would be an advantage.
Design of industrial instruments and/or process plant equipment.
Experience of pressure equipment design is desirable.
Knowledge of permanent joining methods such as welding, brazing, adhesive bonding etc.
An interest in and understanding of physics/general science and mechanics

Personal characteristics
High degree of self-motivation and initiative
Ability to work in a highly organized and logical manner under minimum supervision within a small team of multi-disciplined scientists/engineers (Physicists, Mechanical, Electronic and Software Engineers).
Excellent personal management skills.
EU passport and willingness to travel occasionally
Ability to work in a flexible, changing environment
