Job Description

Our client is a leading avionics and defence engineering company in the UK, designing and manufacturing projects for such clients as the UK MOD for military and civil purposes for the last 80 years.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work as part of the client's Electro-Mechanical Systems team. You will provide technical direction and decision making in support of project delivery and manage internal and external resources to successfully deliver allocated projects. Furthermore, you will ensure project compliance with internal processes, regulatory and legislative requirements.

For this role it is essential that you have experience working in the aerospace engineering industry, as well as concept design experience. You also must be able to understand engineering drawings.

Job Description

Define and lead analyses in support of product design
Lead integration design to achieve optimal balance between design requirements such as performance, mass, centre of gravity, safety, maintainability and cost
Manage requirements verification throughout project execution to successfully demonstrate compliance
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with internal processes
Work with programme management to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with technical, cost and schedule requirements
Manage technical risks.

Qualifications and Requirements

Degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience in mechanics and product design
Knowledge of mechanical drawing requirements and an ability relate them to build process
Knowledge of some electro-mechanical systems such as braking systems, actuators, electrical power sources, solenoids, winching systems preferably within an aerospace environment
Confident analytical problem solver with excellent communication skills
Motivated individual capable of managing several tasks concurrently.
