Job Description

Our client is a world leader in the provision and integration of cutting-edge technology, primarily specialist vehicles to the Defence and Security sectors. A Mechanical Maintenance Technician is required to provide supervision and first line maintenance response to all breakdowns within the fastest possible time, minimising any a disturbance to production. It will be your responsibility to maintain and install mechanical and electrical plant and equipment, ensuring maximum efficiency in work quality, quantity and cost, whilst supporting and adhering to site policies, goals, and objectives.

Your responsibilities will include:

Ensure the team's correct use of the computerised maintenance management system, for both planned and reactive maintenance requests, time booking and accuracy in fault description.
To ensure all work is carried out safely within current health, safety, environmental legislative Standards and company procedures.
Ensure that technicians within the team are adequately trained, equipped and motivated.
To draft all relevant permits, safe systems of work and standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
To carry out testing and inspection, installation and rectification works.
To assemble, install, test, certify and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures.
Undertake both mechanical and electrical fault finding, diagnostic and preventative maintenance on machines and equipment.
To inspect mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance to standards.
Provide support to electrical technician and other members of the department.
Maintain housekeeping standards throughout work area.
Provide 24/7call out as part of a rota and be prepared to work overtime and respond to call outs as required for both sites
To take responsibility for defects and follow up on any repairs in a reasonable timeframe.
Travel between sites in South Wales as and when required.

Skills and Qualifications:

Apprenticeship served, preferred
ONC and HNC academic qualifications relevant to maintenance engineering
Solid experience in a technician's role post apprenticeship
Experience in supervising personnel
Able to work efficiently with Microsoft Office based software
Good people skills and able to communicate well at all levels
Able to prioritise work effectively
Full UK driving license essential
