As a Product Engineer for rotating equipment products, you will be the focal for the DC generators or AC generators or Generator Control Units product ranges to operations and product support to maintain status and priority information so that stakeholders have a clear vision of engineering activities relevant to them. You will make sure engineering investigation action plans are well structured, managed and substantiated to enable clear and quick program decisions to be made to avoid line stops. You will also be accountable for the technical quality of the work delivered by themselves and other less senior or external engineers assigned to them to support their work.
You will need prior experience in rotating machine / mechanical product design or engineering analysis role, and you need to be able to use your own or technical capability of other engineering specialists to align and justify your decisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
No direct reports, but you will quality assure or supervise the work of other engineers and will hold technical responsibility and accountability for the work of others.
Review and approve design activities created by themselves and others against specified safety and quality standards.
To conduct and co-ordinate engineering activities including detailed investigations in support of production / in-service products using accumulated experience and judgement to evaluate, select standards or methods.
This will require co-ordination across the UK and US engineering teams.
To make technical decisions & act as prime internal or external interface where needed managing requirements and deliverables.
Co-ordinate and work with UK and US engineering teams to resolve technical issues - aligning with Product line leaders for technical authority.
Qualifications / Experience
Role holder will hold either a relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
Prior experience in product design or engineering analysis role.
Strong understanding of simulation and test capabilities.
Sufficient technical expertise in electrical power systems equipment to acquire engineering approval status.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing environment - manufacturing methods, process capability, and process control.
Knowledge of Airworthiness requirements and required configuration control.
Good communication skills.
Able to work effectively & proactively with other business support functions.
The role holder has the opportunity to shape this particular function in order to influence and improve the performance of the business. To do so, they will build relationships with key internal customers to build effective support strategies and relationships.
From time to time, they will need to interact with external customers to plan and support in-service product issue engineering investigations.
