Microwave Payload Systems Engineer - Space

Your knowledge of the design and development of Radiometer and/or Microwave Instruments and Equipment, and experience of looking at things from the systems level across the development lifecycle would make an instant impact with my client; A leading space company focussing on Earth observation based in Portsmouth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of Microwave Radiometer Instruments and equipment for Earth Observation satellites. This involves supporting the architecture and design activities through any and all stages in the project development lifecycle. As a Microwave Payload Systems Engineer, the role includes;
*Lead the Radiometer and/or Microwave Instruments architecture and design activities within a specific area of a project or equipment, through any and all stages in the project development lifecycle (Phases 0, A/B1, B2/C/D/E).
*Develop architectural concepts and designs in response to technical specifications, within payload design constraints
*Carry out Radiometer systems and Microwave design engineering, Radiometer product development and procurement for spaceborne Earth Observation instrumentation, within the framework of the applicable requirements, guidelines and standards imposed by our customers and the technical domain.
*Lead and/or review detailed Microwave analyses of space-based Radiometer sensors. Define the performance allocation between the various equipment of the Radiometer; perform the functional analysis and decomposition of performance requirements.
*Deliver outputs from assigned project work packages within cost, schedule and quality requirements.
*Provide technical leadership of, coordinate and supervise other members of the project team in the Radiometer design domain.
*Interface directly with the Customer team, within the framework of project protocols and communication channels, to demonstrate technical competence and credibility in the tasks we are performing.
*Support the development of wider capability in our department in the radiometer systems domain through knowledge transfer, mentoring and lesson learned.

To be suitable for the Microwave Payload Systems Engineer role, you will need;
*Proven experience of working on the design and development of Radiometer and/or Microwave Instruments and Equipment, for space-based system
*Understanding of Radiometer and Microwave systems design and analysis methods.
*An appreciation of the key technologies and architectures within Radiometer systems
*Experienced in use of performance modelling tools
*A good understanding and proven experience of hardware design, development, integration, analyses and verification methods at Microwave frequencies
