Your experience in Mechanical Project Delivery, and ability to concisely summarise multi-faceted problems and influence, lead and empower teams positively, will help you to support the Portfolio Delivery Team.

About the role


The role lies within Project Delivery, responsible for the management of all portfolio engineering activities associated with delivery, including technical risks management, obsolescence management and engineering commonality management. You will be involved in all aspects of product development, from early concept studies to series production and in-service support. Other responsibilities associated with the role will include:


  • Improve the efficiency of Commonality, Modularity & Reuse and reduce hardships through working with projects
  • Review predicted and calculated benefits to ensure realism from an engineering perspective
  • Work with internal teams to ensure that programme plans for dependencies exist
  • Support internal teams’ road-mapping activities
  • Act as the point of contact between Functions, Equipment Teams, Centres of Excellence and the Portfolio as risks or issues arise
  • Establish build and maintain relationships and structured communication channels
  • Present pertinent information and deliver to the Portfolio Technical Team
  • Develop, maintain, and publish the portfolio risk register
  • Define and manage risk tracking strategy, focusing on those imminently or immediately affecting project deliveries
  • Manage risks and issues raised within projects as current obsolescence’s affect portfolio projects
  • Generate technical risk commonality maps
  • Provide awareness of the objectives and mission to internal and external parties as required
  • Ensure solutions for the removal of portfolio obsolescence does not affect the established dependencies

About You


To be suitable for the role, you will have good working knowledge of mechanical & electro-mechanical design and processes throughout a product’s life cycle, as well as a flexible mind-set, and the ability to develop innovative solutions for design challenges. You must also be able to meet the following minimum requirements:


  • The ability to work with, influence, and challenge others where required, including senior management
  • Ability to understand advanced technical problems, often with a high degree of uncertainty, complexity and inconsistency
  • Effectively manage priorities when faced with issues from multiple projects
  • Chartered Engineer status, or have the desire to become chartered
