My client is looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to join this international company leading the way in the Defence, Aerospace, Land, Maritime and Nuclear sectors. If you are looking for a new challenge with great opportunities, then this is the role for you.
You would be responsible for the technical aspects of large complex design and development tasks and hardware engineering of high grade cryptographic equipment. Likely to be involved in more than one project at any one time, these may be multi-disciplinary. Some UK and International travel may be required.
-Support lead engineer to propose hardware architecture to meet requirements.
-Develop a variety of engineering methods and techniques which can be applied and adapted as necessary to create solutions.
-Liaise with customers, external bodies and other engineering functions.
-Identify cost-effective solutions in terms of both development time and materials. Accurately estimate work of self and others.
-Propose/optimise multi-layer PCB stack-up design.
-Clear presentation of proposals with ability to constructively debate input from others.
-Provide improvement suggestions for the processes and procedures you operate.
-Work closely with mechanical design engineer to specify PCB fixing, wiring and thermal design features.
-Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual
Skills & Experience
-Analogue and digital component selection, circuit designs incorporating DAC, ADC, FPGA, memory, processors, power supplies, op-amps, passive filters.
-Schematic capture of complex circuits (Mentor PADs).
-Understands the importance of signal integrity and can select appropriate terminations.
-Hardware simulation tools to verify circuit parameters (SPICE, Hyperlynx).
-Authored wide range of documents (design descriptions, verification plans, test reports).
-Design for EMC and TEMPEST, resolve conflicting requirements based on electromagnetic theory.
-Understands EMC and TEMPEST test techniques, methods and can design suitable test harnesses.
-Understands electronic assembly failure modes and investigatory techniques.
