Job Description

Our client delivers innovative technology developments for high performance systems and equipment for application across the Aerospace, Defence & Security, Space, Industrial, Medical & Science sectors, with involvement high profile projects such as radar control on the Eurofighter Typhoon and kicker magnet control in CERN's large hadron collider.

They are currently looking for a Project Science Lead (Timing) to join their Quantum Technology Team in Essex and provide support and expertise on the various activities of Quantum Sensor development, initially working on the precision timing aspect of Quantum Technology.

A significant part of the role will involve internal and external liaison between company and external Quantum device stakeholders, including, for example, MOD and DSTL scientists, university physicists and corporate engineering teams.

The Project Science Lead (Timing) will:

*Provide scientific and technical support to project managers, team members and customers.
*Take a leading role in the development of precision timing technology.
*Review project specifications and advise on feasibility of proposals.
*Identify opportunities for improvement of Quantum Technology understanding and implement improvement opportunities.
*Ensure that the appropriate equipment, processes and documentation exists for the correct manufacturing of the product.
*Determine and manage the technical risk on a project and to implement mitigation activities as appropriate.

To be considered, applicants will need to be qualified to PhD level or equivalent in a relevant field, with practical laboratory experience in precision timing. You will also need experimental skills in laser physics, atomic physics and electronics and knowledge of project risk management techniques.

In addition, the following would be beneficial:

*Experience as a post-doctoral or equivalent researcher.
*Motivation to further the development of Quantum Technologies based systems to commercial products.
*Experience on atomic clocks and applications.
*Experience in the development and delivery of Quantum Sensors.
