Job Description

Your experience of the management of cost and expenditure on building related projects and knowledge of Quantity Surveying will help you to support construction related procurement and contract management activities for military building and facilities.

My client is a leading engineering support services company who design, build, manage and maintain various infrastructures and equipment's in the defence and maritime sectors.

Key Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the management of cost and expenditure on building related projects across the contract, including construction related procurement and contract management activities, supporting company objectives of value for money and best practice in financial management. The role includes;
*Proactively manage and control all costs relating to asset management activities, including new builds, alterations, refurbishments, and lifecycle planning, from initial design stages through to project completion
*Delivery of best in class cost planning services for construction based activities, including:
oPreparation of indicative cost budgets and appraisals and elemental cost plans
oProvision of professional advice relating to expenditure and cost impacts of development plans and asset management strategies
oProvision of value engineering studies
*Provision of construction related procurement advice, including:
oAdvice on procurement strategy
oCollation of long and short tender lists and preparing and issuing tender documents
oManagement of tender process, including queries and clarifications from bidders
oProduction of tender evaluation reports
oPreparation of construction contract documents
*Post contract quantity surveying expertise, including:
oManagement of application for payment process / interim payments
oPreparing certificates
oManaging the change control process
oProducing cost reports and cost forecasting as required
oSupport company in any dispute resolution / arbitration activities
*Oversee the administration of all costs associated with asset management activities, including interfaces with other departments as required
*Provision of subject matter expertise on construction based commercial contracts terms, payment mechanisms and performance management
*Drafting of minor works contracts for building refurbishments and alterations, including commercial terms
*Support the selection appointment and management of construction and engineering contractors, consultants and third parties as required
*Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are complied with at all times.

Key Skills & Experiences

*Degree qualified in quantity surveying or comparable discipline and experience in a cost management role
*Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations 2015 and any further amendments
*Strong commercial awareness and experience related to property and construction
*Experience of providing construction based procurement advice, and producing tender and contract documentation
*Good knowledge of up to date construction strategies, and able to advise senior colleagues on the same
*Good project management skills, with experience of working across multiple work streams in a proactive and diligent manner
*Experience of project feasibility delivery and delivery of cost management advice
*Customer focused with the ability to build positive working relationships.
