Your experience of Systems Engineering (ideally within rail) and experience of leading and supporting on complex systems engineering and/or proposal activity can help you support a leading consultancy's Systems Engineering team as a Rail Systems Engineer.

The role is based in Bristol for a world-leading, multi-national organisation that will challenge and develop your technical capabilities, and offer you the chance to work in a developing, cutting-edge environment in some of most advanced facilities in their areas of expertise.
About the job:
To support a strong market demand and the ongoing development and growth my client currently requires a Senior Rail Systems Engineer to support delivery of complex infrastructure programmes in rail and other industries, helping to translate the requirements and expectations of users and customers into deliverable system of systems specifications. In this role you will be responsible for the leadership of systems engineering programmes aimed at providing holistic support to our clients in the rail sector. You will be expected to:
*Develop Technical Solution Strategies in response to client problems and requirements, bringing a comprehensive "big picture" mindset.
*Act as a Technical Lead/Integrator responsible for coherent delivery of our programmes to our clients.
*Have a fundamental understanding of the systems engineering processes
*Support business development activities through stakeholder engagement and managing key client relationships.
*Lead or provide technical input to proposals/bid.
*Given the breadth of services and markets in which we operate this role will also provide you with the opportunity to apply your safety expertise in sectors other than rail.

About you:
To support these responsibilities, we are looking for an individual ideally with experience in the rail sector (or similar) and knowledge in a number of the following areas:
*Drawing on enterprise architecture to develop the systems of systems architecture through which required outcomes will be met, and development of operating concepts
*Development of user and system requirements, and managing acceptance against those requirements (including verification and validation work)
*Articulating understanding of the drivers for whole-of-life cost of complex systems
*Engaging with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure shared understanding of the full suite of inputs required to deliver an overall operational capability
*Articulating the required level of operational maturity development to align to key programme milestones.
*Using Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and toolsets, and experience in implementing TOGAF
*Relevant systems engineering standards such as ISO 15288
*Safety Management System interfaces and application
*Understanding of all facets of rail infrastructure and operations, including physical infrastructure, digital systems such as passenger information systems, and appreciation of the challenges of both freight and passenger transport.

It is to your advantage if you meet any or all the following additional requirements:
*An understanding of Requirements and Modelling tools, including DOORS and CAMEO Systems Modeller.
*Previous exposure to a consultancy environment would be an advantage, but strong commercial understanding is essential.
