Job Description


Your previous electronics experience in the aerospace sector and track record working at a Senior level, able to provide strategy from both a technical & leadership standpoint is highly sought by a leading organisation in Dorset. You will be joining a world leading supplier of aviation services for military and commercial customers.

This role will be responsible for the oversight of electronic component and sub-system development with regards to complex software (RTCA DO-178B) and complex hardware (RTCA DO-254) disciplines.

We are looking for a strong manager with a background in electronic engineering, you will need to have through life leadership experience - involved in certification of new system designs through to changes and upgrades in through life support.

Responsibilities for this role will include:

~ Lead and motivate Engineering Managers and their associated teams.
~ Product assurance with respect to safety, airworthiness and design robustness.
~ Assist with planning to deliver the project in accordance with internal and external processes, along with adoption of best practice and process improvements.
~ Ensure efficient and robust capture and flow down of requirements to sub-systems and equipment level and/or external suppliers.
~ Uphold a structured approach to design, analysis and development, making intelligent use of innovation, re-use and the expertise of technical specialists.
~ Ensure robust integration of sub-systems and equipment with Customer IPTs (C-IPTs).
~ Ensure that the design complies with all applicable customer technical specifications and any regulatory and legal requirements.
~ Oversee the design of the component or sub-system for efficient manufacture, operation and in-service support.
~ Ability to influence direction setting for future research and technology.


To be suitable for this role your skills and qualifications will include:

~ Degree or equivalent in electrical / electronic (EE) or aeronautical engineering.
~ Strong technical background in avionics technology, with familiarity of a variety of engineering disciplines.
~ Experience in aerospace commercial and defence markets, products and technologies.
~ Demonstrated experience in a technical governance and leadership role, including delivery to aerospace OEMs.
~ Thorough understanding of aerospace complex systems development and integration from concept through to certification with the relevant authorities (e.g. FAA, CAA, MoD).
~ Knowledge of ARP4754A is desirable.
~ Proven experience of planning, leading and executing New Product Introduction, sustaining and industrialisation and through life cycle support.
~ Experience of managing medium sized teams in a complex environment
