About the Role:
The client requires a Senior Manufacturing Methods Engineer - Winding to act as a focal point for technical / process innovation driving initiatives focused on product design and process capability to meet both current and future operational requirements. The job includes;
*Is the focal point for Program and Operations Managers acting as a key interface with engineering and company technical experts
*Supports all internal and outsourced operations acting as a focal point for the sharing and development of best practice.
*Provides approval for a number of manufacturing engineering processes including SPC, PFMEA, One shot plans and layouts
*Develop and execute process improvement (effectiveness, robustness and repeatability), championing PFMEA's (Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis), lean manufacturing and effective industrialisation of product, tools, machinery and process.
*Proactively initiates cost down, variation reduction activity through statistical process control and test yield improvement activities necessary to address changes or anomalies in internal and outsourced capability.
*Supports creation of strategic road maps proposing and justifying capital (machines, tooling, gauging and plant) investment.
*Lead the deployment of process improvement activity including the investigation, verification and qualification of new tools, machines and working practices.
*Deploy maintenance and calibration strategies for key machines, tools and gauges - offering technical guidance and support to Facilities, Quality and Operations as required.
*Responsible for validating standard times for operations to support business cost modelling.
*Pro-actively engages with relevant support functions when initiating or leading process based technical investigations to deliver problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective / preventative actions.
*Support the construction and deployment of an effective Electrostatic Control program through robust process audits, preventative actions and operator training.
*Deploy the Factory of the Future vision with new tools and processes targeted at improving quality and efficiency - considering opportunities for digital manufacture and automation.
*Champion Lean manufacturing including value stream mapping (VSM) and Least Waste Way activities.
To be suitable for the Senior Manufacturing Methods Engineer job, you will need experience of working within a complex and dynamic component manufacturing engineering environment with NPI and continuous improvement experience. A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in mechanical, electronics or production engineering is needed, as is a proven ability to lead technical investigations, engaging with multi-functional problem solving workshops. You will need an ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and customers and an understanding of Statistical Process Control, Process FMEA's, and Lean Manufacturing preferred.
