As Senior Mechanical Engineer In-Service Support you will be supporting UK and Canadian defence projects, so you will need a good, solid background in mechanical engineering - ideally from a heavy engineering, power, nuclear, oil & gas, defence or weapons handling background.

Please note this is not a design role, though you will need a strong mechanical design background, this is a support engineering role assisting the team and answering technical questions to aide in the design and development of in-service equipment.

Qualifications / Experience

HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates without this qualification will be considered, if they can demonstrate considerable relevant experience within engineering design, system support or submarine systems. The following skills are essential:

Good, broad, mechanical engineering knowledge
Experience of system integrations, setting to work, sentencing concessions or defect investigations
Demonstrate logical and pragmatic problem solving abilities.
Good communication skills both oral and written
Conversant with Microsoft Office packages
Ability to work to time/budget
Ability to develop and apply logical, engineering arguments
Team player but equally capable of working on their own
Accurate and concise with information provided
Proficient at 3CAD, NX7 preferred. Experience with other 3D CAD systems will be considered
Proficient at AUTOCAD 2D
Experience of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems would be an advantage
Customer facing experience
Experience with Teamcenter Product Data Management system preferred. Experience with other PDM systems will be considered
