About the job:
Our client is looking for a Simulation & Modelling Group Lead to join their modelling department, having an involvement in all aspects of the development, integration, delivery into service and service support aspects; working to identify commons strands and efficient processes.
You will require excellent partner management skills to provide clarity to your team, and have experience of leading engineering teams to deliver solutions to engineering problems. Experience of how mathematical models support the engineering process is highly desirable. Previous experience of Weapon Systems and Missile systems for area defence would be advantageous.
As well as activities within in the Surface Launched Air Defence domain you will have the opportunity to work with the S&M management team in the UK and internationally to look at improving our processes and methodologies to ensure we are able to continue to deliver high quality solutions into engineering teams.
As a Simulation and Modelling Group Lead you will need:
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- You will favour a collaborative, open approach to leadership and have the ability to inspire others in order to reach, or exceed common goals and objectives.
- The models that you deliver will be used across multiple products and sites, so strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and -influence others is essential.
- A good understanding of how model development and usage supports the engineering lifecycle.
- Able to apply modelling processes in accordance with company quality assurance expectations.
- Able to work in an agile manner to deal with adapting programme deliveries and timescales.
This is a great role for someone with a passion for leadership, and performance modelling.
You will understand how Simulation and Modelling supports our weapon system products and gain insight into a number of related departments with whom we have a high level of interactions (e.g. Guidance Navigation & Control, Software, Hardware-in-the Loop, Systems Design & Validation, Seekers & Sensors, and Technical Quality).
You will gain an in-depth exposure to the Modelling tools and process (such as Mathworks) have the opportunity to develop relevant skills and apply them in developing large scale models.
You will have the opportunity to work with our international colleagues in France, Italy and Germany sharing knowledge and deriving best practices.
Many of the methods and tools we use in this domain are the result of strong collaboration, and consequently there may be the opportunity to work with external collaborators, Universities, and SME's.
