Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Supply Chain Development Specialist to provide support to complex strategic projects in the Naval Marine Commercial Team within the Marine Sector.
In this role you will help generate significant value for the business by designing supply chains that align with the business needs, developing key supplier relationships to increase performance and by providing enabling elements that ensure on time delivery as well as reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services.
As Supply Chain Development Specialist your tasks and responsibilities will include:
Ensure all Contracts within your authority meet the company policies and procedures and are compliant within the legal entity that they are being placed.
Design and develop cross business strategic supply chains that meet immediate and future needs.
Source new routes to supply markets developing relationships and supply chain designs that are future forward, collaborative and mutually beneficial.
Negotiate Contract Terms and Conditions both for materials and services and incorporate in flexible contract arrangements that motivate the required performance
Use contracts to stimulate the potential for innovation, best practice ways of working and encourage the generation of collaborative mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
Analyse supply routes, procurement spend and capability requirements and seek to introduce the most cost effective contracting route to suit each circumstance.
Manage and develop Key Supplier Relationships in line with sourcing strategies to provide dynamic supply solutions across the business.
Prepare and issue Invitations to Tender or requests for quotations. Chairing tender opening meetings, bid clarification meetings with Tenderers and start-up meetings. Systematically evaluate competing offers and present recommendations to stakeholders
Negotiate competitive prices often against a background of demanding target savings and sole source suppliers.
Work with other stakeholders to create strategic sourcing arrangements in support of business objectives.
Manage contracts of significant value and impact and ensure delivery of performance and benefits.
Qualifications / Experience
A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience
Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS
Working knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract management and supplier development
Working knowledge of business law and relevant industry standards, able to confidently negotiate and agree terms and conditions and contractual arrangements.
Experience of managing and developing relationships
Ability to negotiate favourable solutions in a single source and competitive environments
Data gathering and manipulation and analytical skills
Sound commercial awareness and business environment experience
