About the Role:
The client requires a Systems Engineer to support on all Systems Engineering activities including requirements, analysis, design, review and verification. This role includes:
*Delivering allocated tasks within budget and to timescales as agreed with the project management team.
*Conducting Systems Engineer tasks throughout the systems lifecycle consisting of:
oUnderstanding and reviewing user requirements documentation;
oWriting the project System Requirements Specifications;
oDeveloping and documenting the systems design through System Design Specifications and Interface Specifications;
oDefining the system's sub-systems and their requirements including hardware and software;
oEnsuring the specification, design and acceptance are fully traceable;
* System testing and reporting:
oDeriving, defining and documenting testing:
oConducting integration testing;
oConducting system testing (informal and formal);
*Configuration and Data Management
*Training and Development
oMaintain and develop your own functional skills relevant to the systems discipline.
oIdentify own training needs and develop your personal career path to support the personal development process.
oAdhere to the company's systems engineering processes and procedures.
*Supporting the safety verification process as required;
*Supports Bids by providing input on technical solutions, estimates and plans.
To be suitable for the Systems Engineer role, you will need to be, educated to HNC/HND or degree level or equivalent in an Engineering or Engineering related discipline and have solid experience of delivering Systems Engineering activities. A background in the defence or marine industry is preferred (ideally with some knowledge of SONAR). The ideal candidate will have an understanding and experience of the application of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle and 'V-Model', with some previous focus of Requirements Management (Elicitation, Derivation, Decomposition, Flow-down, Verification & Validation) across the full programme lifecycle using Systems Engineering tools (DOORS etc.). Knowledge of Software Engineering best practices and common pitfalls, fundamental project management practices and other electronic systems used in the defence industry is also needed.
