Job Description

Our client develops and manufactures instrumentation, systems and solutions to help support ocean exploration around the world. Their products encompass underwater acoustics, inertial navigation and optical technologies, helping a marine operations industry that is rapidly changing through digitalisation, wireless systems and increased autonomy.

Technical Sales Manager (Defence)

They are looking for a Technical Sales Manager to drive sales to new and existing Defence customers in Europe and Africa, promoting and enhancing the company reputation as a trusted supplier of products to the Defence industry.

The Technical Sales Manager will:

*Identify and develop defence sales opportunities in Europe and Africa for company products and services.
*Grow and nurture a network of contacts consisting of buyers and technical evaluators.
*Use customer relationship management tools to manage the sales process though lead generation, qualification, quote generation, negotiation, vetting and receipt of purchase orders.
*Coordinate with sales, business development and other company teams to address all quoting activity.
*Ensure all commercial contract terms and conditions are thoroughly reviewed and comply with company policies and risk management requirements.
*Provide regular, comprehensive sales reports to stakeholders including visit reports and weekly updates.
*Gather and report information relating to industry, market, customers and competitors through weekly sales meetings and in CRM.
*Establish and build strong working relationships with internal staff across the company group.
*Keep up to date with in-house technology and product advances.

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to degree level or equivalent with a demonstrable sales record, the ability to develop a network and a comprehensive understanding of the defence equipment market. You will need to have a strong background and technical understanding in similar underwater systems used in the maritime/naval sectors, such as sonar, acoustics, underwater imaging etc. and you may well have a career background with the Royal Navy, ideally as an officer or a senior rating.

Evidence of strong, close relationships with defence customers in the MoD, DE&S or front-line commands would be highly beneficial and you will need to have a collaborative working style with the confidence and integrity to earn customer and stakeholder confidence and respect.
