Job Description

Telecoms Fibre Supervisor

Electus is supporting Cable & Splicing Services (CASS) a telecommunications contracting specialist. They have won a major contract and have several opportunities available.

They specialize in delivering turnkey telecom services in fibre, copper, network civils for fibre cities and highways in the UK. They integrate technical disciplines within all legacy, modern and new build communication infrastructures - they do this on both small and very large-scale projects across a broad spectrum of industry, commerce and public access networks.

They are currently recruiting for experienced and accredited Telecoms Fibre Supervisors on a self-employed contract for work in the Shrewsbury/Shropshire and Greater Midlands/West Midlands/Stoke/Nottingham Area.

The role is field-based, spending minimal time in your designated depot/office.

In your role you will be responsible for:

-Supervision and development of a team of excavation, reinstatement & support gangs installing fibre networks across the UK
-Carry out daily risk assessments relating to site set-up and ensure respective gang(s) have also completed daily risk assessments
-Ensure compliance to agreed safety & quality standards including internal policy, methods statements and external guidelines & legislation
-Ensure build remains on target as per completion date, reporting any delays/concerns to the Project Manager
-Ensure compliance to agreed A55/Street Works processes as specified locally
-Ensure site set up and end of day site closure adheres to the chapter 8 guidelines, adhering to all safety standards and record with photographs
-Comfortable working away from home when required
-Comfortable working out of hours when required

You will have the following qualifications and be able to prove experience and competence.

-Must hold a full UK driving license for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on your license
-Experience with Supervising Fibre Cabling/Fibre Splicing teams
-Knowledge in the fields of fibre blowing, splicing, aerial cabling, PIA ducting
-Competent in OTDR, CD and PMD testing and analysis
-Knowledge of CDM Regulations
-Ability to work alone as well as in a strong team environment
-NRSWA Street works Supervisors Ticket
-PIA Accreditation would be an advantage
-Used to running crews
-Safety conscious and compliant
-Excellent communication skills
-Risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on Health and Safety practices
