Job descriptionMy client, a world leader in the defence sector, requires a Thermal Engineer to join them in Stevenage and work as part of a team on thermal engineering and analysis solutions for their missile and weapon systems, helping to shape the development of their thermal analysis capabilities.

There is also an opportunity available for a Thermal Team Lead.
To be considered for these roles, applicants will need to be qualified to Batchelor’s or Master’s Degree level, possibly PhD level (or will be able to demonstrable equivalent experience) with previous experience in a similar role, with strong problem-solving skills coupled with a sound fundamental knowledge of heat transfer analysis using Finite Element methods. You will have experience applying numerical based tools (such as ANSYS, 6SigmaET, ICEPAK or FLOTHERM) to investigate and analyse heat conductance problems.
In addition to the above mandatory requirements, the following would be desirable:
- Relevant experience in a comparable industry.
- Knowledge and experience of methods for managing the thermal performance of mechanical and electronic systems.
- Experience writing/reviewing formal documents/deliverables on projects.
- Experience identifying and delivering capability and technical improvements.
For the Thermal Team Lead role (leading a team of Thermal Analysts) , experience of leading individuals and small teams in the delivery of projects, as well as producing verbal and written reports would be required.
