Job Description

Do you have a background in the rail sector and experience of developing business cases for rail (mainline and/or metro) schemes, including working with the DfT or major rail transport bodies? If so please read on.

We are working on behalf of an established and expanding consultancy that has won two rail industry innovation awards to recruit a Lead Business Case Consultant.
The person we are looking for will be able to help our client develop work in this area as well as manage and co-deliver projects. As such, we are particularly looking for individuals with:

-Extensive experience developing business cases for rail (mainline and/or metro) schemes, including working with the DfT or major rail transport bodies.

-Understanding of the business case and investment appraisal methods used in the rail/transport sector, including HM Treasury Green Book.

-A whole of system and whole of lifecycle understanding of the costs and benefits associated with rail schemes.

-The ability to lead and undertake project work in this area.

-Experience in - or the aptitude for - business development, and client relationships.

-Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills (written and oral).
Candidates may also have experience of:

-Undertaking such work for other transport or major capital-intensive sectors;
-Demand forecasting
-Strategic Asset Management
-Policy Development
-Benefit/performance appraisal;
-Whole-life cost modelling;
-Scenario and options analysis.
