About the Role:
Providing critical, technical, engineering guidance on vehicle technology component, sub-system and platform development potential
Building and maintaining new and existing relationships with external stakeholders in the transport sector
Gathering transport data from a variety of sources and processing this to derive insights and enable further analysis by colleagues
Managing data on vehicle technologies, transport and travel for use in a variety of models and analysis across the company
Working with and contributing to other teams within the company (covering a wide range of disciplines), to deliver meaningful and impactful results for both internal and external pieces of work.
You will have the following experience:
Educated to degree level in engineering (Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral level) in a relevant engineering subject with a strong systems approach; should aspire to professional (Chartered) status within a relevant discipline.
Technical engineering experience in vehicle technologies and of the vehicle market. Expertise in low carbon vehicle technologies (e.g. electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles).
Extensive experience gained within the automotive industry, likely to be in design, research and development or manufacturing.
Systems design and analysis.
Systems thinking is highly desirable.
Knowledge of the energy sector and energy supply for vehicles
Direct experience of research, development and demonstration activities in the transport sector is highly desirable.
Substantial experience of low carbon technology programmes, and the wider sustainability agenda, is desirable.
Systems modelling experience is beneficial
Understanding of how businesses develop and exploit new technology is highly desirable.
A demonstrated ability to learn about new areas of technology and their application.
Working knowledge of how government funded projects and bids operate is beneficial.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven leadership, team working and project management skills.
Strong inter-personal skills - articulate and able to work with a diverse team of colleagues with backgrounds across science, engineering, business, and policy.
Able to consider implications, anticipate problems and solve them pragmatically and with consideration of the wider needs of the team.
Strong IT and communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate reports.
Ability to excel in a rapidly growing, fast-paced organisational environment.
Persuasive and approachable you can successfully manage relations with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and ability to work effectively in line with changing priorities
Enquiring mind with desire to challenge the status quo
Other Requirements: Willingness to travel, within the UK and globally as required. Knowledge of UK and EU regulations covering the transport sector is desirable but not essential. Experience working with large quantities of data from disparate sources is also desirable but not essentia
