Chief Engineer - Commercial Vessels

Provide technical leadership for the commercial vessels engineering team and ensure the delivery of complex naval vessel projects within strict time and budget constraints as a Chief Engineer for Commercial Vessels.

As a Chief Engineer, you will provide technical leadership to Marine Engineers and Naval Architects, and be responsible for the delivery and oversight of the technical scope of work for projects within the commercial vessel design team.
 
About the role:

• You will be responsible for the technical output to ensure that it meets the requirements, that it is fit for purpose, safe and delivered to a high level of quality.
• You will interact closely with colleagues responsible for Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Outfit Engineering, Production Design and Project Management.
• You will act as a senior point of contact for the customer, and working with the Business Development and Sales functions, be responsible for developing new business opportunities. 
• You will liaise with the company on commercial, legal, governance and financial aspects.

 
About you:

• You will be a highly experienced marine professional, degree qualified in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or similar, with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the marine industry and Chartered Status with a relevant Institute. 
• A technical expert with significant experience in a wide range of design activity (ideally with a bias towards lightweight aluminium, medium to high-speed craft) as well as an understanding of vessel design enquiries and the development of new technologies.
• You will also be experienced with relevant codes of practice and Classification Society rules and have practical experience in vessel construction.
• You will have demonstrable management experience and interpersonal skills that allow you to engage with customers, stakeholders and your own team, face to face or remotely.
