They are looking for a Component Engineer to join their team in Buckinghamshire.
The component engineer will work within the Electrical & Electronics team to complete designs on time and to budget, covering component library management and obsolescence studies as well as schematic capture, PCB layout and review, cable design and wiring schedules.
The Component Engineer will be responsible for:
*Obsolescence management, including the selection of alternate component parts with minimal design impact.
*Generation of symbols and footprints to support schematic capture and PCB layout, based on information from suppliers and engineers.
*Resolving technical problems associated with assigned products
*PCB design using computer aided design tools, schematic design and PCB layout.
*Providing improvement suggestions for the processes and procedures you operate
*Production of design documentation (include technical and design proving reports/CE compliance and Product Test Specifications)
*Carrying out engineering activity in accordance with engineering procedures
*Liaison with other engineering functions (mechanical, production, test, systems and software)
To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in Electronics Engineering or Physics. You will have a background in Component Engineering or Obsolescence and an interest in further developing your career in this specific discipline. In addition, you will have a background in Electronics Engineering, design and development, with broad knowledge of Electronic Engineering methodologies, processes and tools, design for EMC compliance, knowledge of EMC standards and electronics design safety standards such as BS EN 60950.
You will have experience in:
*Electronics/systems design in the defence industry or other relevant environment, including design for EMC & signal integrity, schematic design and PCB layout.
*Definition, design prototyping and commissioning of electrical subsystems including PCBs, Electronics racks / cabinets, cables and other electronic assemblies.
*Component selection and an understanding of associated issues to include obsolescence.
Experience in one or more of the following would be ideal:
*Cadence OrCAD Capture & Allegro PCB editor
*Altium Designer or
*Mentor Graphics / PADS
