Job Description

Your experience leading large teams in the field of Environmental testing could add immediate vale to this world leading Defence organisation. You will be working in a state of the art complex, surrounded by advanced technologies and innovative individuals.

The role will be responsible for leading a team of specialist engineers, to provide expertise to project and design teams in the field of shock, vibration, climatic and structural mechanical testing, modelling and analysis.

You will have the opportunity to work across all Land, Sea and Air based projects, using your expertise to drive forward the definition and development of complex technical solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead Environmental/Structural Mechanical Test Laboratory and Analysis Teams to deliver work packages as agreed to meet the requirements of the customer
Contribute to the overall department vision and provide clear and positive leadership to the test/analysis group consistent with this vision to ensure staff performance and motivation
Provide technical management and supervision of the Environmental Engineering laboratory infrastructure
Provide technical expertise to projects and sub-contract design authorities on environmental test methodologies, test processes, facilities and instrumentation
Lead the definition of test requirements, development of test specifications and the preparation of complex engineering designs solutions with respect to shock, vibration and signal analysis
Lead, plan and control ongoing test engineering processes and activities and provide technical input to bids for new business
Work across functional and international boundaries to resolve complex technical problems using analytical tools

About you:

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience / Chartered Engineer desirable
Comprehensive understanding of vibration, shock & climatic environments
Experience of environmental test and analysis processes, measurements and instrumentation, ideally within the Defence Sector
Knowledge and experience of field trials, specification development, signal processing, data analysis and dynamic modelling
Experience of environmental defence standards would be beneficial
Strong leadership and people management skills, ideally including technical supervision of test laboratories
Good Project Management skills and experience
