They are currently seeking a Lead Infrastructure Analyst to work within Infrastructure Team managing issues for various Geographic Locations.

About the job

The Lead Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for key corporate and business application infrastructure delivery, evolution and advanced support and operations. This infrastructure comprises the SPARC, Wintel and appliance based server estate, incorporating VMware, Windows, Solaris and RHEL.

Key Responsibilities

Provide developmental expertise across all of the systems managed by the group but with a particular emphasis on Solaris, Linux, Enterprise storage and cloud platforms (Public / Hybrid)
Design, develop and support internal and customer facing infrastructure services including DHCP, DNS & SMTP
Evolve existing hybrid infrastructure technologies such as Radius, external SMTP, external DHCP and bring these under the control of GrIT
Build on existing relationships with other technology groups within the business to ensure any opportunities sharing of infrastructure and expertise are exploited
Provide "expert services" and technology advice to other technology groups within the business to increase the influence of GrIT ensuring consistent technology decisions are made across the enterprise resulting in cost savings and efficiencies.
Maintain and strengthen collaboration between the Infrastructure Delivery and the GrIT Architecture Group.
Provide the IT Operations Groups with support for the implementation of new operational responsibilities as well as to review and maintenance of those process and procedures as needed.
Be a source of expertise around middleware technology in use across wider GrIT including but not limited to Ping IdAM, Apache and other web servers, Oracle Apex framework, etc.
Support the DevOps ambitions of the Group IT function with a skill set including:
Development and scripting languages such as Shell script, Perl, Python and Java.
Experience of deploying / adapting both cloud and on-premise infrastructure via orchestration tools such as Chef, Ansible, Salt, Puppet etc.
Provide 1st/2nd line DBA support to GrIT Operations, Application support groups, wider GrIT and in some instances, other divisions.
Ensure all infrastructure deliveries are compliant with the clients IT Security policy as published and provide support to development of such policies and the technologies used to implement them.
Contribute to the design and development of messaging systems including particularly the underlying SMTP platform.
Design, develop and all Infrastructure provisions with HA capability to provide the basis for near 100% SLA performance of Business applications and Corporate IT systems
Provide infrastructure expertise around virtualisation technologies, particularly VMware and Hyper-V,

Knowledge and Skills Required
Demonstrable experience in IT Infrastructure provisioning within operational environments.
Knowledge and practical experience to the level of Senior System Engineer for the majority of the following technical areas:
Expert understanding of one or more UNIX base operating systems, with one or more of Solaris and Linux being an advantage, particularly RHEL and derivatives
Knowledge and experience of deployment to one or more of public/hybrid/private cloud backed by experience of doing this in a business context.
In-depth knowledge of one or more scripting languages such Shell script, Perl, Python etc.
In-depth knowledge of Orchestration / Automation technologies as well as demonstrated competence in one or more of the leading toolsets such as Chef, Ansible, Salt, Puppet etc.
Experience of working in a DevOps driven environment, specifically around automated and repeatable provisioning and maintenance of Infrastructure elements.
