Your experience in leading teams and knowledge of developing and documenting product architecture and requirements, will play a crucial part in leading the product team supporting the development of a new secure comms system. As a Product Engineering Lead, you will develop and lead an Agile team to assess the comms systems and where solutions do not exist or require adaptation, to acquire and/or develop those Products (Software/Hardware).

About the Job:
The client is recruiting for the strategic position of Product Engineering Lead, who will be responsible for the acquisition/creation/demonstration of Products that meet the needs of solution architectural building blocks for a new communication system. In the role you will be required to;
Develop and document Product architecture, requirements and Product/Solution Designs using UML modelling tools
Development, documentation, verification and support of Product SDKs for use by 3rd parties
Development, documentation, verification and support of product integration harness and stubs.
Using agile techniques to deliver product stubs/test harnesses in the first instance, then increasing feature releases.
Work with external and internal stakeholders.
Undertake analysis of design changes.
Oversee and contribute to integration of Products into the Vertex Integration Framework and testing activities on prototype solutions
Present and demonstrate solutions to relevant stakeholders to gain feedback on the development activities and support future improvements.
Accurate and timely reporting of progress and escalation of issues to Programme and Engineering management.
Present outputs of work, conclusions and recommendations at internal and external reviews
Management and supervision of software development teams utilising Agile techniques.
Responsible for software quality and performance to ensure programme objectives are meet.
Create plans and processes for his/her area of responsibility by tailoring standard templates to the needs of the project. Assumes cost and schedule responsibility for a cost account/work package of reasonable proportions.
Manage a group of technical experts.
Participates in job interviews for more junior personnel.

About You:
To be the right fit for this Product Engineering Lead job, you will have an extensive experience in a role that demonstrates technical leadership and application of system/software engineering skills with a track record of delivery. You will demonstrate understanding of the system/software engineering lifecycle and phases, and be experienced in engineering methods and tools for system modelling (SysML). You will need experience in agile software/product development methods and best practice, with a belief in and understanding of the benefits of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and confidence to effectively deal with Customers, End Users and 3rd parties.

To make an immediate impact it would also help to have a Defence/aerospace industry background, a familiarity with tactical network infrastructures including networks, radios and system management considerations and experience in the use of the following engineering tools: DOORS, Artisan Studio, IBM Rational Rhapsody, HP Quality Centre.
