The 19th-25th February is 'Bake for Bliss' week. This is a nationwide event to raise money for Bliss, the charity for sick or premature babies. Over 95,000 babies are born premature or sick and in need of neonatal care in the UK each year. That’s 1 in 8 babies, or around 270 babies every day. The time babies spend on a neonatal unit, and the care they receive, is vital to determining their chances of survival, long-term outcomes and quality of life. Bliss exists to give every baby born premature or sick in the UK the best chance of survival and quality of life. Bliss champions the right for babies to receive the best care by supporting families, campaigning for change, supporting professionals and enabling life-changing research.
To help support the great work Bliss do, Electus Recruitment Solutions is proudly supporting the charity by holding a bake sale. This is a charity that is close to Electus' heart, our Senior Talent Delivery Consultant, Francesca Tucker, is a mum to two premature boys. Her first born at 28 weeks, whilst on holiday in France, and the second at 32 weeks, neither of her sons would have survived if it wasn’t for the tireless care that Neonatal Intensive Care Units provide - supported by Bliss. The charity provided Francesca’s family with a wealth of information, support and allowed her to connect with other families in the same situation. Francesca has since written articles of her experiences, and now helps to support other families through their NICU journey.
