Test Development Engineer – Circuit Card Test
  • Location: Bolton
  • Salary: Circa £43,000
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid, 3–4 days on site per week
Step into a role where your skills in electronic test have a direct impact on complex systems. We are partnering with a leading defence organisation to recruit a Test Development Engineer to join their Bolton-based team.
In this position you will design, develop, and maintain automated test systems, translating detailed technical designs into reliable, practical solutions. You will create test strategies, develop mechanical and electrical test adaptors, and implement automated test sequences that support products from concept through to series production and in-service support. Continuous improvement and problem-solving are central to your daily work.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain automated test systems for circuit card electronics
  • Create test strategies and documentation in line with specifications
  • Design mechanical and electrical test adaptors
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and new technology initiatives
Essential Experience and Skills
  • Strong analogue and digital circuit design knowledge
  • Experience with schematics, PCB layouts, and technical documentation
  • Proven ability to develop automated test equipment
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW or TestStand
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
Desirable
  • Boundary Scan / XJTAG experience
  • Continuous improvement or Six Sigma experience
